R+OSGeo in higher education (Belgrade, RS)

Course/workshop organizer:

Objectives: Introduce participants to open source tools R+OSGeo, give some hands-on training and provide enough resources (literature, examples, datasets) so that participants can continue developing his/her skills independently. At the end of the workshop each participant will be familiar with how to install packages, load spatio-temporal data in R, reformat and analyze it, visualize it using Open Source GIS and Google Earth and write results in various formats. The leitmotiv of this course is introduction of "R+OSGeo" into higher-education systems (MSc and PhD level courses).

Target group: This is a regional edition of the GEOSTAT summer school that is held 1-2 times a year at various locations. We aim at junior researchers, university assistants and lecturers interested in using R+OSGeo for education and projects (from civil engineering to environmental protection, ecology, species distribution modelling, general computing and web-applications).
