Blangiardo & Cameletti: Spatial and Spatio­‐Temporal Bayesian Models with R‐INLA

Date & time: Thursday 22 September 2016, 09.00-17.00

Objective:  get familiar with spatial and spatio-temporal model with R-INLA.

General description:

In the three lectures we will:

  • introduce the basic concepts of Bayesian inference and hierarchical modeling
  • introduce the basic ideas of the Integrated Nested Laplace Approximation (INLA) approach and present the main features of the R-INLA package
  • show how to implement spatial and spatio-temporal model for areal (i.e. discrete in space) data using R-INLA​

In the practical we will provide the attendees with some data in order to apply the methods presented during the lectures.

Required back-ground knowledge: R knowledge is required.

Software / R packages required: R-INLA, maptools, sp, spdep, gstat, RColorBrewer
